Ari and I spent a few days in Margalef, a couple of hours drive from Barcelona. The area is a well known for climbing and as it turned out, it\u2019s good for road cycling also. We arrived on Friday afternoon after missing our turn off because we were busy chatting. I went for a bit of a spin on my bike after we arrived. We had quite a nice little apartment in the small town on the hill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday we climbed in the main valley with great views of the surrounding cliffs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The valley was surrounded by cliffs. We climbed some easy routes but none of them really excited me. I wanted big holds but it was more about finding your way up on little foot holds and small hand holds.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Sunday<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Sunday we tried another area spending the day climbing on different sides of a very large boulder. I went for a short ride in the evening again riding up out of the valley towards the wind turbines in the hills. The views were spectacular. Then we went climbing again in the evening doing two nice climbs with great views into the valley. We stayed for the sunset before returning to the apartment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monday<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally on Monday I went riding again in the morning following the smooth roads towards the coast and doing a nice little loop through the hills. The riding was very good. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After returning we ate quickly and then went climbing again. It was a hot day and we tried to stick to the shade as much as possible. As the day turned to evening it cooled and we did a few nice routes and spent some time watching the big white fluffy clouds slowly moving in the sky. We drove back to Barcelona in the evening through the hills to start with, on more fantastic roads for cycling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
