Leonie and I snuck away from work at midday and headed off for another ski tour. This time we headed to a valley between Kirchzarten and Oberried. We headed up through a paddock of snow and into the forest. After an hour or so of trudging and a bit of map-related confusion we left the forest again. From there we headed up past the H\u00f6fener H\u00fctte and back into a patch of forest before immerging on to the last slope before the summit. The sun was out behind the clouds and we had a great view. A bit more slogging through the thick snow and we reached the summit of Hinterwaldkopf.<\/p>\n
We admired the view briefly before skiing back down as the sun set behind the hills. When I say skiing down I don’t mean it. I mean sliding uncontrollably down the hill. To keep things interesting we mixed this up with face planting in the snow. Due to the warm weather the snow was really heavy and thick and it made turning very difficult. There was also a nasty harder layer in the snow which would break occasionally and swallow up your ski. Overall the walk up was more enjoyable than the ski down, but still it’s a tour to be recommended.<\/p>\n
