George, Rachel and I started the day with coffee at the Schwarz Baekeri near my flat before driving into Bregenzerwald and up to the top of the Hochtannbergpass. We had another coffee before starting in order to use the facilities and then we were finally off into the hills. We headed up from the Jaeger Alpe ski lift and zigzagged up along gravel tracks and then smaller trails to the top of the ski lift. We continued to the saddle and then geared up and started along the East ridge. It was easy going and we made good progress. It wasn’t too long before we reached the summit of Karhorn.
We continued along the somewhat harder West ridge. We descended from the ridge and followed a track back to the saddle. It rained briefly on the way back before clearing again. At the saddle we were greeted by a herd of very friendly sheep.
We drove back to Lindau and went out to a restaurant together in the evening for dinner.
