I’m Cris from New Zealand. This is my blog about my overseas adventures in Europe that began in 2009. I began travelling in Europe in June 2009, catching up with friends, and hiking in beautiful areas. I’m keeping a blog mostly for myself so I remember what I did, and where I went but also so that anyone who is interested can keep up with what I’m doing.
I had a working holiday visa for Germany, and during the 2009-2010 winter I worked on a ski-field in the little town of Oberstdorf in southern Germany. It’s right next to the Austrian border and takes about 10 minutes to run from one side to the other. It’s small but has lots of outdoor things to do which suited me fine.
I trained as a high-ropes course guide after working on the ski-field and spent the summer working for a few companies in Allgäu, Germany. I moved to Freiburg in August 2010 and had a job in a MRI research group there for three years.
Then it was off to Lindau for some industry experience and fun in the hills.
Where to next?
Update 2020: I’ll tell you where. Back home to NZ. That’s where!
Update 2022: And now back to Europe! How confusing.

23 Mar 2013Dear Cris and company,
You’ve got a great life and a very nice website.
If you’re ever in Berlin you are welcome for a cup of tea.

PS Milford Track was the best thing I’ve ever done.

24 Mar 2013Hi Reut,
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll remember your offer! I might just be passing through Berlin one of these days. Glad you enjoyed the Milford Track. How long were you in NZ for, I wonder?
Greetings,
Cris
