I set off from Ossiach with the bunch at 8:30 and we rode to the start of the day’s stage. It was a 9.8 km hill climb with approximately 950 vertical metres. The start order was from the slowest to the fastest (i.e. by placing on GC) at 30 second intervals. I set off about 9:30 and discovered after a minute or so that the course was quite steep at up to around 15 % gradient. Still I slogged along and passed perhaps ten people on the way up making it an enjoyable ride! Muhaha.
I reached the top in around 49 minutes.
Above: I enjoyed the hill climb but probably this was helped by passing 10 or so people on the way up. The climb was around 950 m with something like 10% average gradient. (Photo – Klaus Pribernig)
