We skied down into the valley directly below the hut in the morning and skinned around the side of the mountain through the forest. The snow was hard due to the morning start. We skinned up a valley, over avalanche debris and then ascended more steeply for a while and finally skinned over less steep ground again. We stopped on a rock poking out of the snow and had a short break before continuing. We arrived at the ridge and the snow was a bit patchy. We had to carry out skis through grass for before finding more soft snow that took us up to the summit. It was great to be a the top of a ski touring mountain again. The descent was good and the soft snow was easy to ski on, although it was getting marginal in places. I skied too close to rocks at one point and the base was suddenly gone underneath the snow. The skis dug in, my bindings released and I found myself running through thin air. I managed a few steps on the ground but the speed was too great and I faceplanted into the snow.

We sidled around the side of the mountain again to return to the hut, which was probably a mistake. It was slow going and hard work and we had to carry our skis in parts. We got back all feeling pretty tired and a bit over it. It was all-in-all a nice tour though.
