Ari, Anaïs and I drove about 30 minutes to a village where we entered La Nocturna Trinxavambes, which translates to the night time shoe destroyer. Lovely.

It turned out to be quite lovely, or at least quite nice. I entered the 17km trail run and the others did a 9km walk. We started around sunset (the others 15 minutes after me) and we followed mountain bike trails through the forest near the village. It was in parts quite technical with steep descents down rutted tracks. It was good fun though. The moon came out and near the end of the race I had a great view out to the sea with the moon reflecting brightly from the ocean.

I finished in 8th place in the veteran men’s category, which sounds quite good but overall I was near the end of the results. I finished before the others and after a short break jogged out to meet them as they were nearing the finish line.
