It turns out I already blogged about this but posted it under the wrong date! So I’ll leave both posts here… One written in 2019, the other in 2022.
Markus and I lined up to do the Pfänder TT. It’s a 6km-ish ride up to the top of the hill Pfänder just across the border in Austria. It starts in Lochau and climbs steeply (10%-ish) to the top. We ride the route fairly often while training at various speeds but today’s effort was going to be at top speed, or at least whatever speed our legs would let us ride in the summer heat. I say today’s effort which is far from accurate. It’s now 2022 and I realised I never wrote about this one.
There was a good turn out of competitors on this very warm evening. We started off at intervals with Markus starting in front of me. I pulled him in in the first half and continued to the top. From memory, I was reasonably happy with my effort back then but it put me somewhere in the centre of the field. I made the ascent in 28 minutes 49.9 seconds.
Above: A few pics from my phone before and after the race.
