The weather was looking good and we set off from our cozy air bnb back towards Tromsø. Johannes D went ahead and rented some touring skis as his had not turned up. I watched with horror as we left the blue sky and drove into grey. We’d planned to meet Johannes D just South of Tromsø with the plan to approach Tromsdalstinden from the South. We started up from the car park with a few patches of light grey in the sky. As we climbed a wall of grey approached and it wasn’t long until we were skinning in falling snow. Tromsdalstinden was not visible and instead we skinned up the gentle slope to Laukslettfjellet. It was cold and windy. We met a Norwegian guy who was there on his split board trying to decide whether to get out his kite. He was also put off by the low visibility. We dropped back down to the tree line quickly.
Skins back on and we headed back up and to the right. We looped back around and descended via steep powdery slopes. The skiing was very good and it was fun making turns through the trees. Johannes D hadn’t had enough and while the others drove back to our accommodation we headed back up once more and found a steep powdery slope on the left to descend.
