Leonie and I went ski touring from Schönau up to Belchen. The tour book promised us the longest descent in the Black Forest and possibly Germany, which I somewhat doubted. Still with 8 km of ‘descent’ we were expecting good things. Unfortunately the weather and the snow were not ideal and so after the 3 hour ascent we took two hours trying to ski back down through breakable crust snow. Due to our not so advanced skiing abilities it was rather tricky…

Above left: The weather was nice to begin with and we were treated with sunshine. Above right: Although there was enough snow Leonie found a nice patch of road to stomp over. Yay!

Above left: The nice weather didn’t last long though but the ascent was still quite fun. Above right: After a fairly long trek we made it to the summit of Belchen in a lovely foggy soup.
