I dragged myself out of bed and headed to the start line for the RIG Schauinsland time trial. It was, being spring time in Freiburg, rather cold… At least that has been the pattern this spring and today was no different although it wasn’t raining! Aaaaamaaaazing.

There were 12 keen starters there at 9 am. My legs felt a little sluggish as I headed off as they didn’t seem to have recovered quite from the Tour de Kärnten and the Dolomites just yet. Despite this I puffed up the hill and was surprised when I looked at my speedo near the top and saw 36 minutes. Unfortunately I couldn’t push any harder along the flat section at the end but was still happy with my time of 38:15 (RIG time). This put me in 3rd place from the starters and in 3rd place overall for the RIG cup. The previous night’s alcohol seemed to have had a large negative impact on Marco as he would normally be a good bit faster than me on the climb. The time got me 6th place from 116 on Strava.

Schauinsland TT – Time 38:15 Dst: 11.4 km Avg: 18.1 km/h 33.8 Max: km/h Ascent: 773 m Place: 3rd

Above: Strava thought I was a second faster…
