After fluffing around for the morning trying to get organised we were packed and set off on foot about 2 pm into the Triglav National Park. Our packs were heavy as we were laden down with all the essentials. No, no, we weren’t going to be running out of cucumber on this trip. Still our packs had been heavier on other trips and as we had our racing crocs on, the slog was made easier.
We arrived at Bivak pod Luknjo at around 8 pm and cooked dinner. It’s a small bivouac below a saddle that’s a good place for day trips. Our plan is to leave the cooker and food here while we attempt to head up Triglav.
Above: Walking into the park.
Above left: The Triglav National Park really is beautiful and we had perfect weather as we entered the park and climbed up to the Luknja pass.
Above middle: It’s always best to come prepared. Note the cucumber. Safety first.
Above right: The biv is closed but has a winter room up these stairs that has always been open when we’ve been there. The biv also has a family of little animals living in the roof at the moment. They are very cute but like to scuttle around in the night.
