Leonie and I headed off in search of snow. There wasn’t a lot around but we found a little bit in Balderschwang in Allgaeu. Leonie had her new ski touring gear and we scratched our heads for a while trying to understand what Dynafit had in mind. But it seemed that they had good things in mind and we headed off. We found some delicious powder along the way and two peaks next to each other Bleicherhorn and Höllritzereck. The tour started off sunny but ended grey and mirky. We tried a different descent which turned into a ski portage for a couple of hundred metres through the forest.
Above left: We set off with blue sky, new ski gear for leonie (note the lovely pattern on the skis – she hates it), and fresh legs. The only thing that was missing down below was the snow. It was very patchy. Above right: The snow improved dramatically higher up.
Above left: So much so that silly shadow poses had to be made. Above right: It was so nice and powdery.
Above: Our descent at the end of the tour involved an unplanned ski-portage.
