Elmar and Reinhard collected me from Lindau in the morning and we drove into Switzerland to the Avers valley where will spend a few days ski touring.
We met the rest of the crew there and dumped our gear at our hut before heading further up the valley to Juf. We’d rented a nice little Air BnB. The weather was perfect. Blue sky and warm. We skinned a couple of km up the valley before turning right and ascending towards Juferhorn. Three of the group turned around about half way and went looking for beer and Roland, Elmar, Helga, and I continued to the summit. The ascent was easy and the summit ridge quite ok.
We had an awesome view out over the mountains in all directions. White peaks with patches of spring coming through.
We descended in a mix of powder and blocks of hard snow and then traversed across a hard slope. From there it was crust and hard to ski all the way back to the valley. The others were sitting in the sun drinking their beer when we arrived.
Above: We got out for a tour up Juferhorn on our first day. It was a hot slog up the valley until we turned right and headed up into the hills.
Above: The summit ridge was flat and easy to get to.
